Description
This paper shows the effect of a magnesium addition to a zinc-11 mass percent aluminum-3 mass percent alloy for coating. It examines the effects on the corrosion resistance, workability, and mechanical properties of the coated steel wire. This magnesium alloy can be used very easily for steel wire coating. In a salt spraying test (SST), zinc-11 mass percent aluminum-3 mass percent magnesium coated wire shows a 2/3 corrosion rate compared with zinc-10 mass percent aluminum coated steel wire.
