Description
This paper is a continuation of work concerned with experimental verification of the Avitzur, Wright, and Yoshida criteria for central bursting in drawing of high-carbon steel wire in dies with semi angles smaller than 10 degrees and single reductions in the range from five to 41 percent. Using the equations of Zimerman and Avitzur, a theory for the effect of strain hardening on central bursting was established in which decreasing the strain hardening coefficient increases the possibility of central bursting under given friction conditions.
