Electrochemical reactions in lubricants

$15.00

During hot rolling or drawing of copper, electro- chemical reactions can take place on the surfaces of the metals (copper and tool steel) exposed to the lubricant. In this study the electrochemical behavior of the steel and copper in the lubricants was investigated using potential and potentiodynamic. measurements, and the affected surfaces were examined by a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and by Energy-dispersive X-ray Diffraction (EDAX). The effects of variable such as lubricant concentration, temperature, agitation speed, copper ion concentration and oxygen content in copper have been evaluated.
