FEM simulation of the influence of die angle on stresses and temperatures of steel wires

$15.00

This paper is a continuation of the paper presented at Wire Expo 2002 which concerns FEM modeling of drawing wires for pre-stressed concrete. Wire rods of four different steel grades were drawn with the same single reductions in five draws in dies with four different angles. Testing of tensile strength, yield strength, elongation, contraction, number of bends and number of twists proves that the influence of the die angle on the properties of drawn wires and stress, strains and temperatures in deformation zones is considerable.
