Methods used to insulate wire for use in underground cable are described. The cotton-covered wires making up the cable are imbedded in suitable insulating material, wrapped in layers of strip paper impregnated with an insulating fluid, then coated with lead sheathing. Details of the lead sheathing process and equipment used are given.
