A new research method is described in which the wear of dies is measured. The basis of the procedure is the irradiation of the dies, drawing wire using a variety of lubricants, and measurement of the radioactivity of the wires. Machine oil with a lime carrier was concluded to be three to four times better than soap with an alkaline carrier.
