A discussion of a new cable jacket compound is presented. Bakelite Company’s new vinyl chloride compound NFD-3000 is compared with a typical polyvinyl chloride cable jacket material. Comparisons of cold bending, durometer, compression, stiffness vs. temperature, stress vs. strain, penetration, tensile strength, elongation, dielectric constant, and direct current resistivity are described.
