Characteristics of SUC-70 steel wire rod and the results of tests on non-heat-treated bolts produced from SUC-70 are presented. High strength is achieved by cold working, eliminating the need for spheroidized annealing and the finish heat treatment. The bolts produced are of the same quality as conventionally produced bolts.
