Description
In order to supply its customers with rods of consistent and ever- improving quality, Ivaco Rolling Mills is in the process of commissioning and refining an on-line inspection system. The system uses sophisticated eddy-current technol ogy to test for quality in real time at the exit of the last no twist finishing block of the rod mill. Besides providing thorough and unbiased inspection of coils, the system gives early feed back to operating personnel whenever problems occur on the line. An overview of the rod quality will be presented.
