Plastic strain and hysteresis in drawn steel wire

$15.00

Various tests applied to wire are reviewed, and it is pointed out that none of them can adequately test the properties of wire required to withstand the dynamic stresses presented under working conditions. Stress/strain characteristics are discussed in detail; it is shown that plastic creep and hysteresis behavior of a high order are necessary for wire to withstand these stresses. Examples of failure due to lack of plasticity are presented.
