This paper discusses the technical hurdles and successes that have been achieved over the last several years to meet the many challenging wire and cable performance standards with environmentally-friendly compounds such as heavy-metal-free PVC. Examples will be given to show how the design criteria balance was met for items such as LAN communications cable application.
