New management systems often require new production concepts. Globalizing, rationalizing, customizing and many more “z”ings concern today’s wire and cable industries. Further, total quality systems not only force increasing quality but also evidence. Online, pre- and post-production data analysis also becomes more and more important to improve the complete production process company-wide. The ability to link a line control’s host computers and lace the control system into the company’s information system offers a variety of additional benefits to the cable producers. This paper shows today’s possibilities and new chances for the utilization and application of production equipment.
