Unconventional methods of testing wires and wire ropes

$15.00

An ultrasonic method for fatigue testing of wire is presented. Ten million stress changes can be measured in a sample in six minutes; conventional testing methods would require at least 50 hours. Vibration attenuation can be measured simultaneously with sample life. Testing of rope fatigue and the non-destructive testing of a modulus of elasticity of hoist ropes are also discussed.
