Description
The EXIM Bank is a little bit unusual in Washington in that it has been around for some 50 years and yet has never received any taxpayer appropriations. We were given about a billion dollars in capital in the 1930’s, paid it off in the 1940’s and developed about two billion dollars in internally generated reserves through income up through the early 1980’s. It is your export bank. The reason that we are there is to foster U.S. exports and to generate jobs here at home and try to do it without taxpayer appropriations.
